Secretaries and Convenor’s update, March 2022

Despite the storms and ongoing frosty temperatures Spring is upon us. We hope that everyone survived the long winter nights and managed to stay safe in the forever changing climates. We’re all feeling shocked and saddened by the news in Ukraine. We would like to highlight the Royal Colleges response on their page which details a variety of things that we can do to help. They have created a prominent area on their website devoted to the Ukrainian crisis and will be developing a range of resources to help. Click Here to find out how RCPCH are supporting Ukraine

We would also like to highlight, ‘The Cass Review’, an interim report has just been published which is to be an independent review of Gender Identity Services for Children and Young people. https://cass.independent-review.uk/publications/interim-report/.

As ever YPHSIG is busy behind the scenes with the main focus for 2022 being the upcoming adolescent conference which will be in November 2022. This should be an incredible event, with many of the key note speakers confirmed already! Details to follow but if anyone is keen to get involved you still can.

Please reach out to Tash (natasha.sauven1@nhs.net) or Vhari (vhariforsyth@googlemail.com) who can put you in touch with Najette.

International Adolescent Health Week 2022

On a brighter note it’s nearly time for International Adolescent Health Week (20-26th March). It’s not too late to get involved in your local departments, every little counts, from wearing a flash of lime green to lighting up your entire hospital. Check out the IAHW website for more ideas! This week provides the prime opportunity to advocate for Young People and shout about Adolescent medicine!
