Great leadership is visionary and make decisions with confidence; setting an example to others in their teams. Leaders ensure that time constraints and personal emotions don’t affect the quality of decision-making outcomes.

On this page you can access training videos and downloadable resources to help you with leadership skills to help implement your project interventions that was recorded for the previous training wave of EQIP in 2021-2022.

The Leadership for change training session with Dr Pat O’Connor, QI trainer, CEO QI Discovery focusses on the following leadership qualities:

  • Identify ways that people and organizations give of their talents and resources
  • Empower people to be an integral part of the solution to community problems and issues

Don Berwick: The importance and challenge of clinical leadership (Video 10 min) 

Guest speaker Dr Peter Lachman, clinician, QI and patient safety expert, shares his experience and expertise on QI interventions. 

Dr Peter Lachman consultant paediatrician assumed the position of ISQua Chief Executive Officer on 1st May 2016. He has great experience as a clinician and leader in quality improvement and patient safety. 

Dr Lachman has worked with the RCPCH on National Clinical Lead for SAFE, a Heath Foundation, funded by the College which aims to improve situation awareness in clinical teams. In Ireland he is Lead International Faculty at the RCPI in Dublin, where he co-directs the Leadership and Quality programme to develop clinical leaders in quality improvement. He is co-founder and Chairperson of PIPSQC, the Paediatric International Patient Safety and Quality Community.
